To promote good governance and open data within the new federal structure, the D4D Program worked with Freedom Forum to host a national workshop to advance discourse on right to information and open government data.

To celebrate Nepal’s advancements in open data and sensitize a broad range of new audiences to its potential benefits, the D4D Program supported seven Nepali organisations to collaboratively host a large scale 2018 Open Data Day event.

To increase the availability, accessibility and use of solid waste management data and  improve service delivery in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the D4D Program supported Clean Up Nepal to develop the Nepal Waste Map.

To pilot an approach aimed at improving the accuracy, usefulness, supply and use of weather data, the D4D Program supported Rooster Logic to collect and open up hyper-local weather data.

To grow the availability of open mapping data and support evidence informed planning by local government actors, the D4D Program supported Kathmandu Living Labs to implement an OpenStreetMap project in Nilkantha municipality.

To initiate discourse on the role that open data could play in supporting advocacy, activism, policy development and projects to tackle Nepal’s air quality issues, the D4D Program hosted an open data workshop that brought together key actors working to address air pollution.

To initiate discourse among Nepal’s youth and women’s organisations on the potential of open data for supporting their goals the D4D Program hosted a workshop to encourage their interaction with the agenda for growing supply and use of data.

To help build the capacity for effective data management within the government’s National Youth Council, the D4D Program supported Bikas Udhyami to develop a Data Management Manual on best practices.

To grow awareness of open data, and how to work with it, among Nepali youth, the D4D Program supported Open Knowledge Nepal to conduct an open data sensitization program in universities and colleges around Nepal.

To support use of open data by the businesses in Nepal and encourage further demand for data, the D4D Program worked with Kathmandu Living Labs to conduct a workshop on the practical application of open mapping data for the private sector
