Tool –MunshiG – Manage your cashflows with ease

Winner of two day Solve-a-thon; MunshiG, is an easy-to-use agriculture cashbook management app specificially designed for farmers with digital Financial Literacy modules 

According to the International Labour Organisation, 68 percent of Nepali people depend on agriculture for their livelihoods, a sector which accounts for 34 percent of the GDP. However, for most farmers in the country, formal financial services remain inadequate or completely out of reach. The issue also extends beyond availability of services to its knowledge, with lack of financial literacy also being an issue.

On December 14th and 15th, a two-day Solve-a-thon was organized by the World Bank and TAF with the aim of creating data-driven projects that tackles developmental challenges.

MunshiG, one of the winners of the Solve-a-thon, seeks to complement the efforts of accelerating the pace of financial inclusion in Nepal. The cashflow management application which includes cash flow projection and record keeping does not only allow smallholder farmers to make proper financial plans and goals but also develops a professional attitude towards farming activities which has been largely lacking in the country.
